Position: Engineering Project Manager

Summary:

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record in delivering hardware, software or ASIC projects with responsibility for the development part of a program. This person will likely have hands-on technical experience and will possibly be in an engineering management position today.

Based in Bracknell, you will work in a thoroughbred environment. Our commitment to creativity and innovative solutions means that we want to attract the most talented people in the industry. You will act as the glue to an exceptional development team full of some of the brightest minds in the industry.

You will be responsible for engineering planning, tracking and the resolution or escalation of issues and conflicts. This will be on one or multiple hardware, system, GUI or embedded software projects with varying complexity, scale and geographies. On a daily basis you will be dealing with a selection of internal resources from across the organisation, contractors as well as partners.

This is a challenging, constantly changing engineering position within our growing organisation. This is not a program management role and those without development experience need not apply.


Major Responsibilities:

The company is looking for an experienced individual who will take responsibility for managing the day-to-day development activities of key projects within engineering.

  • Working with developers to plan software and/or hardware/system projects
  • Setting and closely monitoring internal & external project goals and deliverables
  • Resolving or escalating issues to management and/or cross functional Program team
  • Contribute to improvements in development processes and procedures
  • Acting as the voice of BlueArc engineering to external suppliers or partners

Qualifications:

The successful candidate is likely to meet the following basic requirements:

  • At least five years experience in an engineering environment with an extensive track record of highly technically challenging projects
  • Good degree in an engineering/scientific discipline or equivalent experience
  • Significant team leadership experience within a high-tech development environment
  • Adaptable and hard-working, takes ownership, does the right thing and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Possesses a sound understanding of the complete project development life cycle
  • Team player with excellent judgement and communication skills
  • Relevant experience of one or more of the following areas:
    • Software, QA, FPGA, ASIC and/or hardware product development
    • Outsourcing of SW or ASIC design work to Asia and/or Eastern Europe
    • Contract manufacturing
    • Development strategy and best practices

The candidate should have some or all of the following attributes:

  • A good technical skills balance with a strong quality ethic
  • The ability to quickly grasp technical content and issues
  • Personable, whilst being an able influencer and negotiator
  • Good analytical and observation skills, matched with an ability to cope with change
  • Must be personally highly motivated. As with all dynamic organisations, personal commitment is expected to be high
  • Able to challenge assumptions, think creatively and change the rules
