Position: Professional Service Engineer

Summary:

Provide post-sales customer support services to BlueArc customers, to include; pre-installation site surveys, system installation, configuration, test, and initial customer training. You will also provide on-site support to post-sales level 2 escalations for any technical questions and/or issues that may arise and cannot be resolved by level 1 technical resource and may require an on-site visit to customer locations. The PSE is the primary resource for on-site customer support and troubleshooting.

As a secondary role, BlueArc desires candidates with willingness and an ability to provide Systems (Sales) Engineering (SE) support to regional Account/Sale Representatives as requested to augment regional BlueArc SE's, when requested. In this secondary role, you will augment regional SEs and partner with the Account Manager/Sales Representative in the sales process, participate in the creation of technical sales strategy and tactics required to close the sale, and hold the fundamental ownership of all technical aspects associated with customer accounts.

  • Must have strong technical and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to develop and document technical notes related to process and procedural changes resolving customer problems and enabling product enhancements.
  • The ability to work with customers under a variety of circumstances and pressures and understand and meet customer expectations is a fundamental.

Experience and Expertise:

You must have expertise in UNIX and NT system administration concepts including storage products hardware/ software, 3rd party disk volume management products, High Availability configurations and network administration. You must also understand the concepts/protocols of file systems, RAID implementation, and system and network security. Senior systems administration experience is desired, with strong local and wide area network (LAN / WAN) knowledge, specifically Ethernet networks; as well as TCP/IP, SMB/CIFS, HTTP and NFSv2/v3 protocols. You must be knowledgeable about network architectures including the roles of hubs, bridges, routers, load balancers (hardware/software), and multiple layer switches. Knowledge of Windows NT4, 9X and 2000 Clients, NT ACL Support, Security Ids and multiple all types of file systems is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant technical degree is required or equivalent work experience and must have 5 – 7+ years minimum experience
  • Providing technical support in a pre- and post-sales role to enterprise storage, networking or systems solutions to a combination of major accounts, territory accounts, and/or departments within corporate accounts.
