BlueArc Enhances Multi-Tiered Storage Offerings Through New OEM Agreement With Engenio

Titan SiliconServer family to feature Engenio Fibre Channel and SATA solutions, delivering enterprise-class reliability to high performance network storage

SAN JOSE, Calif. and MILPITAS, Calif. - August 4, 2004

BlueArcÆ Corporation, provider of the world's highest performance enterprise-class network storage solutions, and Engenio Information Technologies, Inc., a leader in delivering technology that enables high performance, highly scalable storage for the open enterprise, today announced that the two companies have entered into an OEM agreement, whereby BlueArc's Titan SiliconServer network storage offerings will feature Engenio's enterprise-class Fibre Channel and Serial ATA (SATA) controllers, available together in a single Titan storage system.

Also announced today is the introduction of BlueArc's Titan as a gateway for existing Engenio customers, enabling them to leverage BlueArc's high performing and scalable storage solutions in their existing system environments, without requiring them to replace their current infrastructure or perform costly, time-consuming data migration. Additionally, as part of the companies' OEM relationship, Engenio and BlueArc will be cooperating on joint sales opportunities throughout North America and Europe.

"The market for network attached storage is forecast to grow at almost 15% between 2003 and 2008," said John McArthur, Group Vice President and General Manager of Information Infrastructure Research at IDC. "The partnership between BlueArc and Engenio leverages the core technology and sales competencies of both companies in addressing this market and brings additional value to existing Engenio customers."

BlueArc's SiliconServer Architecture allows customers to scale a single Titan far beyond any other network storage product available today, adapting to changing application or capacity needs, simplifying management, accelerating productivity and protecting long-term investment. Engenio's Fibre Channel and Serial ATA controllers integrate seamlessly into BlueArc's Multi-Tiered Storage (MTS) offering, which enables customers to deploy and manage high performance, moderate performance, general purpose, near-line and archival data in a single, seamless platform, effectively tailoring the storage solution to meet their unique requirements. As a result, the optimal blend of performance, capacity and cost can be achieved without having to acquire and maintain multiple storage systems.

"Engenio is a critical partner for BlueArc as we deliver high performance network storage solutions to the enterprise," said Geoff Barrall, Executive Vice President and CTO of BlueArc. "The ability to provide customers with industry-leading reliability from Engenio, complementing our unequalled performance and scalability with our Titan SiliconServer delivers a unique solution capable of meeting enterprise storage requirements, both now and in the future."

"We are very pleased to partner with BlueArc," said Dave Mooney, Engenio General Manager Worldwide OEMs. "BlueArc's innovative technology is a perfect match for Engenio's enterprise-class Fibre Channel and Serial ATA (SATA) controllers. The combination of BlueArc SiliconServers and Engenio's modular storage platforms, provides the marketplace with unmatched scalability and performance while protecting long-term capital investments."
