Fios Adds Latest Storage Technology from BlueArc to
Meet Growing Demand for Electronic Discovery Services
Fios® Inc., a tier-one provider of electronic discovery services, has selected BlueArc® Corporation's state-of-the-art Titan SiliconServer to dramatically increase the storage capacity of its data processing center. Fios, a long-time customer, selected BlueArc's high performance technology for its scalability, reliability, security and speed - a must for litigation teams that must quickly access vast amounts of critical evidence on any given, complex litigat ion case. Since launching in 1999, Fios has processed many terabytes of data for its AmLaw 100 and Fortune 500 customers to support electronic discovery response that is part of litigation and government investigations & audits.
The amount of electronic evidence processed and stored daily at Fios has grown exponentially over the past few years. What were once simply megabytes and gigabytes has grown into terabytes of data, where one terabyte is equivalent to 12 semi trucks filled with boxes of paper. With more than 90 percent of all corporate data being created electronically, these numbers continue to rise dramatically. The new technology from BlueArc has enabled Fios to increase the overall storage capacity in its data processing center by more than 50 percent over the past ninety days.
"BlueArc has a strong history of delivering quality storage products that meet the high performance requirements of our evidence processing center," said Rich Sadowsky, CTO and vice president of engineering at Fios. "Fios is continuously looking at ways to strengthen our technology to make the processing, access and review of electronic evidence faster and more efficient. BlueArc's Titan SiliconServer provides the platform we require for meeting the current and future storage needs of our clients."
BlueArc's Titan SiliconServer is backed by a unique architecture that allows customers to scale their storage systems far beyond any other servers available on the market today. Titan allows a single file system to grow up to 256 terabytes and delivers throughput of up to 20 Gigabits per second (Gbps). The architecture adapts to changing application or capacity needs, thus simplifying management, accelerating productivity and protecting a customer's long-term investment. As the size of individual files continues to increase, the BlueArc platform will continue to scale to meet Fios' increased storage requirements.
"Fios is a great example of a company that, like us, is serving a growing market and needs performance-based state-of-the-art technology to facilitate its growth," said Mike Gustafson, president of BlueArc. "We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with Fios as the company leverages these solutions to support its growing customer base and business."
