In situations where companies simply cannot afford application downtime or data loss due to a

catastrophic failure at their primary site, BlueArc RVM offers a more granular, off-site disaster recovery solution that protects critical data. With RVM, IT groups can now enable block-level, synchronous replication of two system drives, located in two different RAID arrays, at distances up to 10KM apart.

Addressing the Availability Needs of Today's Business

BlueArc customers who can gain the most benefit from BlueArc RVM tend to require among the highest service levels for availability, recovery and backup of their most critical data. In these cases, RVM becomes a natural choice for customers who simply cannot afford to lose any data, no matter how small.

Other environments that cannot tolerate significant downtime benefit from BlueArc RVM's ability to provide a simultaneous, real-time copy of the data at a separate location. If necessary, the secondary site can pick up where the other site leaves off and support continued operations.

Some customers, such as large service providers and entertainment companies, may have backup windows that are simply too large to be practical or workflows that would be disrupted too much if they were to run more traditional backup procedures. Environments like these sometimes deploy synchronous block level mirroring to ensure the existence of exact copies of all key data at any given time and to give them more flexibility in their backup strategy.

In all cases, BlueArc RVM supports the needs of primary sites using either single or clustered Titan solutions. With a redundant BlueArc system at the off-site location, the RVM solution transparently replicates block-level changes directly to the failover site in real time.
