Methodology
Based on the progressing agreements between customer and BlueArc, an Implementation Proposal will be provided, which includes BlueArc contacts and detailed plans for every phase of the project:
- Installation: Services include placement of the BlueArc Storage System into the customer rack and basic system configuration.
- Integration: Services include configuration of the BlueArc Storage System for use in a Windows or UNIX environment. Configuration may include supported directory services such as Active Directory, NIS/LDAP, naming services, CIFS share and NFS export configuration, remote monitoring (call home) configuration, and testing to ensure these services function correctly.
- Design: Services include planning and development of data protection, data management, and performance strategies. This service includes, for example, white boarding and architectural sessions with the customer on the best way to incorporate the NAS system into the overall application, network, and storage infrastructure.
- Training: Services include a brief “walk-through” of management functionality and system documentation, a summary of default system user names and passwords, and best practices for basic NAS system administration. This service includes a general knowledge transfer for effective utilization of the system in its environment. BlueArc also provides more in-depth training as a separate offering at its San Jose, California, training facility.
