BlueArc the Storage Vendor of Choice for Post Production Projects

BlueArc signs 13 new customers in media and entertainment industry

LOS ANGELES, Calif., July 27, 2010

BlueArc® Corporation, a leader in scalable, high-performance unified network storage, today announced that 13 production and post-production companies have recently chosen BlueArc storage solutions to speed delivery and increase quality of computer-generated imagery (CGI) development, production, and editing. BlueArc has emerged as a preferred storage vendor by delivering industry-leading performance to dramatically reduce artist wait times and ensure fast data access that allows artists to focus on quality and creativity, instead of waiting for file transfers and downloads.

The entertainment industry deals with increasingly heavy network and storage bandwidth, and artists are frequently working with large data sets. Add to that tight deadlines, and performance and reliability become “must haves.” BlueArc enables firms to achieve lower total cost of ownership through improved productivity and efficiency derived from high data throughput and IOPS, storage consolidation and reduction of costs through simplified management.

“Mercury Filmworks is very excited to be a part of the BlueArc family. BlueArc’s philosophy is a mirror of our own: Lead, never follow. It’s on the basis of this simple yet uncompromising vision that we have partnered,” said Clint Eland, president and executive producer, Mercury Filmworks of Ottawa, Ontario.

The BlueArc client list includes more than 70 entertainment companies around the world, small and large, that are leaders in their fields, assisting in the production of video games, television, full length box office hits like “The Dark Knight”, and epic commercials, like “Write the Future,” that set new precedents in their industry.

Among the new customers that have recently installed BlueArc platforms are : The Whitehouse of Chicago; Digital Post Ltd of Auckland, New Zealand; Goldtooth Creative Agency of Vancouver, British Columbia; Turner Studios of Atlanta; Just for Laughs of Montreal, Quebec; and Mercury Filmworks of Ottawa, Ontario. BlueArc also sells its solutions through a large number of Value-Added-Resellers who specialize in the media and entertainment industry.

“We consider our relationship with BlueArc a valuable one. Their people are a pleasure to work with, and they truly understand the Entertainment marketplace. It's gratifying to sell a platform that helps our customers by significantly speeding up their media workflows,” said Kerry Corlett, president and founder, Annex Pro in Vancouver, British Columbia.

BlueArc partners with many leading software vendors in the media and entertainment space to provide customers with a seamless and integrated solution for compositing, rendering, transcoding, editing and other applications in the media workflow. Atempo, a leader in preserving and protecting digital information, and Digital Rapids, a leader in transcoding solutions, will be featured in the BlueArc booth #731 at the SIGGRAPH trade show in Los Angeles, July 27-29, 2010.
